Journeyman – Apprentice Lineworker

Boone REMC has an immediate opening for an experienced, Journeyman/Apprentice Lineworker. This position is open to both internal and external applicants. Successful candidates will meet the qualifications listed below, including possessing a valid Class A CDL and must live, or be willing to relocate to, within twelve miles of the Boone REMC Headquarters. EDUCATION: Graduation from high school or applicable equivalent either in job training or study, preferably supplemented by courses in electrical circuits, wiring diagrams and related equipment equivalent to three months of full-time study.
EXPERIENCE: Experience as an Apprentice Lineworker, or equivalent, or Journeyman Lineworker.
QUALIFICATIONS: A. Must have a good working knowledge of line work and a general familiarity with substations, and existing voltages.
B. Must possess the ability to understand and comply with the company's safety policies and practices, particularly with respect to taking equipment out of service and holding for clearance and restoring to service, and must be alert, resourceful, capable of carrying out responsibilities involved in this work and be able to make decisions in a fast-paced work environment.
C. Must have demonstrated ability to receive and transmit work orders and instructions in a
manner that will obtain cooperation and satisfactory work results.
A. Must have indicated ability to work on own initiative, cooperate with other employees, to train and take instruction as an Apprentice Lineworker or Journeyman Lineworker.
B. Must have demonstrated ability to use tact in dealing with employees and customers.
C. Must be able to walk and drive on rough terrain and work outside in all types of weather.
D. Must be able to climb poles and perform required construction and maintenance work at pole top, including pole top rescue.
E. Must be regular in work attendance and hold, or are able to obtain, a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
